For 25 years, the route has combined industrial culture, living history and tourist highlights. We're celebrating the 2024 birthday with events and activities around the Industrial Culture Route - let's go!

Since 1999, the Industrial Culture Route has been a unique cultural offering that combines 200 years of industrial heritage and history. Every year, this offer attracts over seven million people who want to visit museums, enjoy experiences, travel, cycle, hike and learn - all in a unique, historic industrial setting. And this number is constantly increasing. Because the Industrial Culture Route not only offers exciting infrastructure and a look into the past: Here you can feel the pulse of culture, art and science - a living connection to transformation and vision of the future. A cultural heritage that is alive!

Because on the Industrial Culture Route you can not only explore industrial monuments and get to know the fascinating underground work of the miners. For 25 years, a great variety of culture such as museums, breathtaking views, installations and research facilities have stretched along the Industrial Culture Route. Along the 400 kilometer route across the Ruhr area, visitors can expect a lot of music, theater, art and cozy cafés in the area. Where else can you relax and cycle past industrial monuments in one day, gain inspiration in the design museum and finally look out over the Ruhr area at night from the Tetrahedron? Since 1999, this special atmosphere has been attracting more and more visitors who want to discover our diverse and colorful region. Rejoice with us and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Industrial Culture Route with us! Until then, have fun traveling and exploring!
