Geocaching – Discover the route via GPS

25 years of the Industrial Culture Route – high time to rediscover the highlights of the industrial heritage in the Ruhr area. Grab your GPS device and explore the route on a geocaching treasure hunt!

For the anniversary you will find a geocache at each of the 27 anchor points. A geocache is a small box that you can find using coordinates and tips - whoever has found the treasure can write it down in a logbook. The geocaches become the respective Local Hero Weeks of anchor points unlocked in the anniversary year. In addition, in everyone Local Hero Week sent a Travelbug on its journey. This is a small item that wants to visit geocaches in other locations while fulfilling a mission.

At selected locations you can also explore the area surrounding the anchor points on our geocaching tours (multicaches). You start in one place at an anchor point and follow a trail of clues from monument to monument and finally reach the next anchor point. Explore the mining landscape in Kamp-Lintfort or hike along the Rhine. Traces the industrial history in Essen. Hike over the dumps or through the Ruhr valley.

Have fun finding!
