32nd Big Mine Festival
At the 32nd Great Zechenfest in Essen, people from Essen and the entire region come together to celebrate together:
For three days, the Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site offers an extraordinary entertainment venue with concerts, dance and shows as well as many other attractions!
During the three days, clubs, institutions and companies will present their stands at various locations on the site of the former mine. Different genres of music create an exuberant atmosphere while culinary highlights are offered both from the north of Essen and from other parts of the world. There is also a varied program and exciting competitions for young guests. Numerous offers such as exhibitions and guided tours are accessible free of charge.
Traditionally, visitors can learn more about the history of the former mine on guided tours through the Zollverein Monument Trail, a visit to the Ruhr Museum or a visit to the portal to industrial culture.
