The former museum director of the LWL-Museum Henrichenburg ship lift, Herbert Niewerth, accompanies the participants on a 36-kilometer route from the Ruhr area to the Münsterland. On the way, the group passes various cultural monuments such as the old Lippe pumping station and the historic bridge over the Stever, which is considered one of the most beautiful bridges on the entire canal. There is also information on the Waltrop lock park with the two ship lifts and the two locks as well as the remote control center that supplies the entire canal network with water.
