Bike tour 2 on August 10.08th: From the Recklinghausen substation to the Waltrop lock park.
In 2025, we're once again offering a special tour package for all cycling enthusiasts: Discover industrial heritage on our special tour package to exciting landmarks along the Industrial Heritage Route. Safely accompanied by experienced cycling guides. The number of participants is limited, so be sure to book your spot early for an interesting and exciting day of cycling.

2 TOUR
On Sunday, August 10th, our second tour begins, covering approximately 30 kilometers from the Recklinghausen substation to Henrichenburg and through the new Emscherland back to the starting point. From the substation, we first travel along the Rhine-Herne Canal. At the Herne Lake, we switch to the King Ludwig Route, which we follow until the end of the development. From there, we make a detour through the small town of Horneburg, past the local castle. At the boat lift, we'll hear explanations about the latest construction work for the further development of this beautiful site. Following the banks of the canal, we reach the jump over the Emscher River/the new Emscherland. Following the Emscher, we then return to the substation via the Recklinghausen city harbor.
Please note:
Please bring your own roadworthy bike. The speed limit is based on non-electric bikes. Please bring a helmet, weatherproof clothing, and personal provisions. Don't forget sunscreen! Each participant rides at their own risk. The guide's instructions must be strictly followed. The number of participants is limited to 20. Only registered individuals can participate. Participants must be at least 12 years old, have moderate fitness, and be safe on a bike and in traffic.
