Century Hall Bochum

The Bochum Centennial Hall is a particularly impressive monument of industrial architecture that hosts a variety of fascinating cultural events. What was once intended as an impressive exhibition hall for the Düsseldorf trade exhibition is now used as a venue for numerous renowned cultural and event formats. With its unique connection to the West Park and the connection to the Bochum club, the Bochum Centennial Hall is a brilliant example of successful structural change.

The Bochum Centennial Hall impresses with its unique architecture and an almost sacred structure. With a total of 8 steel arched trusses, modern elements made of steel and glass, today it is an industrial-historical cathedral for culture, business and entertainment and a symbol for industrial-cultural change. Over the years, the former gas power station of the Bochum club has become one of the most unusual festival halls in Europe. The Bochum Centennial Hall is a space of possibilities. Their unique atmosphere makes them an attraction for award ceremonies such as the 1LIVE Krone, cultural events, festivals, galas, trade fairs, classical as well as rock, pop and jazz concerts. Due to its flexibility and changeability, every event there becomes an unforgettable experience.

In 1902, the Bochum association built an impressive exhibition pavilion for the Düsseldorf industrial and commercial exhibition. It stood out for its stylish steel construction and the vastness of the space, especially given the limited technical resources of the time. After the end of the exhibition, the building was rebuilt in Bochum in 1903 and used as a gas power station. The Bochum association adapted the technical advances of the time and optimized the use of top gases. Due to the continued increase in the need for steel, the hall has been expanded over time to its current dimensions of 158 meters long, 34 meters wide and 21 meters high.
