Workers' settlement Altenhof II

Built for the elderly, invalids and single people, the Altenhof II estate now stands for Krupp's social commitment. At the same time, suggestions from the English garden city movement are reflected here, and the company's representative claims are therefore reflected. Unlike Altenhof I in Rüttenscheid, of which only a few houses around Gußmannplatz still bear witness, Altenhof II in the Stadtwald district was completely preserved.

The entire settlement has been under monument protection since 1991 - the only exceptions are isolated buildings erected after 1945. In addition to the actual structural substance, the interiors, the appearance of the houses as well as the plots of land and streets are also protected. Most of the buildings are now privately owned.
