During a foray into the world of flowers and their pollinators, participants will learn, among other things, which countries the plants on the site come from, which butterflies are at home in the coking plant and why not all bees on the world heritage site produce honey.
In cooperation with NABU Ruhr, the Zollverein Foundation offers a nature tour every second Saturday of the month from April to October, which introduces participants to the exciting world of flora and fauna of the World Heritage: Here you will learn to distinguish the voices of songbirds, explore ponds and wildflower meadows, listen to the high-frequency sounds of bats and discover the diversity of mushrooms on the Zollverein grounds. The nature tours at Zollverein are suitable for young people, adults and families with children aged six and over.
Heads-up: The tour is currently only partially suitable for people who are not good on foot, as it leads, among other things, through the original, preserved above-ground facilities of the former Zollverein colliery and coking plant. If you are dependent on accessibility, please contact us at visitorservice@zollverein.de (weekdays) or by calling 0201 246810 so that we can find a solution together.
