The aim of parkour is to get from point A to point B in an urban space as efficiently as possible, using only the abilities of your own body. In the media, traceurs (parkour runners) are often associated with spectacular jumps at dizzying heights. However, parkour is not about daring, but rather about realistic risk assessment and absolute control of your own body. It is about overcoming obstacles with a precise landing.

On the approximately 600 m² publicly accessible outdoor area on the grounds of the coking plant, training sessions are regularly offered for various groups and with different focuses. An overview of the training sessions can be found here .

The parkour training sessions are part of the "Zollverein – The Quarter" project, which invites residents of Katernberg, Stoppenberg, and Schonnebeck to contribute their experiences and ideas and collaboratively create a vibrant World Heritage Site. More information about the project and its free activities for children, teenagers, and adults can be found here.
