Just in time for the 25th anniversary of the Industrial Heritage Trail in 2024, the portal's media tables have been updated and further innovations added: The portal's interactive map of North Rhine-Westphalia now provides more detailed information on over 100 industrial heritage sites. New levels highlighting the Ruhr region's key attractions reveal even more clearly the region's multifaceted nature, and high-speed drone flights demonstrate that the Ruhr metropolis also has plenty to offer mountain bikers, road cyclists, and downhill riders.
“Rundum Ruhr” – industrial charm meets high-tech
A particular highlight among the new additions for the 25th anniversary of the Industrial Heritage Trail is the new 360-degree film "Around the Ruhr," which has been on display in the Coal Washing Plant's Round Thickener II since the end of May 2024. Featuring interviews from six simultaneous perspectives and collages of numerous images, the installation paints an impressive portrait of the Ruhr region in the 2020s. The film utilizes not only the unique features of the architecturally distinctive industrial setting but also a globally unique technology: 12 HD projectors, two 8K and four 4K cameras, and 45 terabytes of storage material combine to create a 360-degree experience that truly brings the region's diversity to life for visitors.
