ExtraShift – The Night of Industrial Culture

Am June 24, 2023 it's that time again: Extraschicht, the night of industrial culture, spectacularly stages the Ruhr Metropolis and thus also many locations along the route of industrial culture: 3D shows, immersive exhibitions and special tours are among the really big program items of Extraschicht this year. Authentic, very close to the action and, as always, with exclusive insights behind the scenes and extraordinary experiences above and below ground. In order to be able to present the industrial culture of the Ruhr Metropolis in all its diversity, it enables visitors to move between locations and cities with its own mobility concept: With a single ticket, guests not only have access to all venues, but also free travel to the public transport and in the shuttle buses that commute between the venues.

Now the program for ExtraShift 23 has been announced. Here some Highlights:

In Bochum, a 3D mapping will make the facade of the building shine at the LWL Museum Zeche Hannover, as well as at the LWL Museum for Archeology and Culture in Herne. In the Zechenwerkstatt Kreativ.Quartier Lohberg in Dinslaken, the Urbania show blurs the boundaries between illusion and reality with body art, comedy and street dance. A skywalk walk on Phoenix West in Dortmund is certainly only suitable for visitors who are not afraid of heights. And where steel was once forged, the works of world-famous artists such as Gustav Klimt or Hundertwasser merge in a brilliant light show in the former industrial hall of the steelworks near Phoenix des Lumières. In the CreativQuartier Fürst Leopold in Dorsten there is an illuminated drone show on the head frame. Visitors can take a look over the garden fence at the Neue Zeche Westerholt in Gelsenkirchen/Herten - and talk to the residents about the beauty of the region.

Wolfsburg Mülheim is pleased to welcome Sting: Kai Magnus by first name. With his programme: "Hömma! - Here's something to listen to!" the Duisburg cabaret artist talks about the life of a real Ruhris. Ben Redelings will be chatting about the history of the 60-year Bundesliga at Rheinpreussen Schacht IV in Moers – a football quiz will round off the whole program in an entertaining way. There will be fries and currywurst at this soccer event in Moers, served by soccer legend Didi Schacht.

Overall, the complete program is musically diverse. A Brauhof party is celebrated at the private brewery Moritz Fiege Brewery with DJ Max Bering and friends. Poetry Slammer Sebastian 23 invites you to a word in the Brewery Museum in Dortmund. There is jazz music at the Dortmunder U. With smørrebrød, cinnamon rolls and flowers, the ABBA cover band will revive the good old hits and ensure a real midsummer atmosphere. The Auguste Victoria mountain band plays regional music at the Museum am Erzschacht in Marl.
