Light installation switched on again in the landscape park Duisburg-Nord

Just in time for the start of spring, the popular light installation can be seen regularly again after dark

Since September 1, 2022, the well-known light installation in the landscape park has been switched off over a large area due to federal requirements for short-term energy saving measures and was used in some areas exclusively for safety and path lighting on the site.
In regular operation, guests can experience the installation every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, on NRW public holidays and on the eve of public holidays. Important: There is no fixed start time for the light. The technology is linked to a twilight switch that triggers the launch when darkness falls, currently around 20:15 p.m. At 1 a.m., the light turns off again.
Since 1997, the work of art by Jonathan Park has been the hallmark of the landscape park and a landmark of the Ruhr area that can be seen from afar. Since 2009, the landscape park has made increased efforts to successively convert the 440 spotlights of the closed steel works and the event halls to energy-saving LEDs, thus expanding the staging options by many facets.
With an average of one million visitors per year, the Duisburg-Nord landscape park is one of the most popular natural and cultural landscapes in North Rhine-Westphalia. Within two decades, a disused steel mill was transformed into a city oasis and is now a top event address with around 250 events a year.
