From June 8th to 11th, the largest international sports and culture festival for young people will take place in the Landscape Park Duisburg-Nord

After the Corona-related break, the RUHR GAMES in front of the imposing industrial heritage backdrop of the Landscape Park Duisburg-Nord. 5.200 young athletes compete in 19 sports in 325 international and high-class competitions for gold, silver and bronze. Together with tens of thousands of visitors, they celebrate Europe's largest sports and culture festival for four days. Exciting top-level sport, a diverse cultural program and hands-on activities for everyone make the RUHR GAMES a highlight in the festival summer of the Ruhr Metropolis and the European sports scene.

The multimedia opening show on June 8th. Headliners are the internationally acclaimed ones Giant Rooks and the indie rock heroes Leonids. Duisburg newcomer Stina Holmquist completes the diverse line-up. Participation in the entire event and the concerts is free of charge - it applies “First come, first served”: An early appearance is recommended.

Sporting highlights include the international urban dance battles on the pulsating center court with the new Olympic discipline of breaking and the subsequent party at the end of the festival on Sunday. It will also be spectacular on the 40 x 30 meter BMX park on the bunker forecourt when top international riders fight for qualification points for the Olympics and inspire the audience with daring jumps.

The power center of the landscape park is transformed into a multi-sports arena, in which competitions in boxing, judo as well as the German championship in sports acrobatics and the European championship in bouldering are held. In the immediate vicinity, the track system for the German championship in beach volleyball, the Germany Cup in archery and for pole vault competitions is being built over.

The cultural program of the RUHR GAMES 23 makes urban and new art forms tangible for all visitors as part of the festival. On Thursday graffiti artist Steffen Mumm, also known as Hoker One, transforms the five-story high speed climbing wall, which is the venue of the European Championships on Saturday and Sunday, into an oversized work of art of his iconic HEADS live in front of an audience.

The Digital Art Stage in the center of the site was completely redesigned and curated as a stage for the New Arts Ruhr. On all festival days, the program offers a combination of video art and virtual reality on an 8 x 8 meter LED wall with live performances from the fields of dance, hip-hop and acrobatics. You can get active yourself at graffiti, art and dance workshops.
