Special exhibition: Families under steam

From Saturday, March 23rd, a new special exhibition entitled “Families under Steam – Living and Working on Board between 1830 and 1970” will be presented at the Museum of German Inland Shipping in Duisburg-Ruhrort. The focus is on the boating family during the era of towing shipping. A special feature of this time was that both the captains' families and sometimes the sailors' families lived on board.

The exhibition offers visitors many family photos and everyday objects from the ship as well as informative texts and listening stations with interviews from former shipmen's children to listen to.

Admission is free on opening day. A curator's tour begins at 14 p.m.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 17 p.m.
